Joseph Gallagher is a commercial litigator with a decade of experience delivering results in business and financial services disputes. His primary focus is always on finding practical, value-oriented solutions to his clients’ problems. He regularly represents individuals and corporations in state and federal courts, arbitrations, mediations, in confidential business negotiations, and in regulatory investigations.
Some of his recent engagements as lead counsel include:
- Resolving a dispute between a multi-million dollar consumer goods retailer and its financing provider on practical business terms.
- Defeating a lender’s motion to dismiss a borrower’s claims that a loan was void for usury under New York law. Boswick v. Bronte SPV LLC, Index No. 608872/18 (Supreme Court, Suffolk County).
- Settling a startup brand development company’s contract / joint venture dispute with a major cable television network.
- Representing an investment banker in a fee dispute against a real estate developer.
Mr. Gallagher also has extensive experience with anti-money laundering laws, whistleblower protection, and civil RICO litigation.
Prior to joining Harris, St. Laurent & Chaudhry, Mr. Gallagher practiced at Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP and Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer US LLP. He received his BA, magna cum laude, from Williams College, and his JD from the Georgetown University Law Center.
