Harris, St. Laurent & Chaudhry represents plaintiffs and defendants in commercial litigation and arbitration. We specialize in complex financial disputes including breach of contract, disputes between business or joint venture partners, trading disputes including busted trades and mispricing, and fraud and misrepresentation claims. We represent hedge funds and other financial firms, company founders, venture partners, corporations and individuals. All members of our firm have substantial experience litigating and arbitrating commercial disputes in federal and state court, and in arbitration.

Representative Matters

Current and recent commercial dispute representations by our attorneys include:

  • $23 million dollar jury verdict in federal court to our client, the Learning Annex, on claims that the Learning Annex was improperly cut out of a business deal
  • Successful resolution, after filing of a federal court complaint, of a trading dispute with a leading financial services firm involving the sale of a bankruptcy claim
  • Action currently pending in New York State court, seeking damages for breach of agreement to fund an oil trading joint venture
  • Successful representation of bond holders in major bankruptcy case in the Southern District of New York, including a $13 million dollar recovery on a fraud claim
  • Representation of real estate investors in civil RICO brought by the Delaware Insurance Commission, leading to the dismissal of all charges prior to trial
  • Action currently pending in federal court to recover unpaid fees, brought on behalf of a nationally recognized consulting firm against a former client
  • Successful motion to intervene in a New York state court action brought on behalf of investors in a venture fund which was being sued, by a third party, for breach of a promissory note
  • Successful action brought by application for a temporary injunction to compel the return of funds being held in an escrow account
